We provide therapy for busy working professionals who want to invest in their relationships and themselves. Our clients work at large corporations or work for themselves, and they turn to Family Matters Counseling for highly skilled, highly trained, and highly respected professionals. Individual adults meet with us for individual sessions in-person and online. Our reputation in the community is that we are all experienced, licensed therapists with excellent training and results.
Our clinicians help individual adults when they are contemplating, moving through, or grieving the end of important relationships. Meeting with a therapist to discuss the end or the potential end of a relationship is one of the most common reasons for meeting with a therapist. Relationships are important, complicated, and endings tend to bring up lots of related issues.

One of the consequences of social distancing is that many in our community find themselves feeling isolated and alone. Loneliness and depression can follow. A psychotherapist might help identify how parts of this experience might teach us about our own psychology-- from past experiences, making the best of this time, and choosing how to would like to move forward with healthier relationships.
More than most other things, parenting can remind us of our shortcomings and struggles. It isn't always clear how to balance complicated dynamics between children and adults. Having a therapist list and sort through your choices and feelings with you can make all the difference.
"My family is so important to me, but we are stuck at home and really getting on each other's nerves." This father is not alone -- many families are struggling with how to stay positive and pleasant under these stressful circumstances. Talking with a therapist can help you navigate these trying times.
Significant health issues, whether coronavirus, cancer, or other long-term health conditions, bring challenges for the ill and the caregiver. We have therapists on staff with experience to assist those facing illnesses as well as the care providers who face their own challenges and difficulties.
While it can take longer for men to initiate counseling, they tend to have dramatic successes in accomplishing their goals for personal growth. Our procedures provides the space to process and explore their values, experiences, and relationships. We can set concrete goals to measure progress and find the appropriate time to finish our work.
Between the pandemic the kept us apart and social media that lends towards more shallow interactions, adults may find themselves in a bit of a loneliness crisis. Therapy can help adults understand themselves, their internal process, and find new ways to live lives the way they want.
Events in the past year helped raise awareness for many of us about the suffering of our neighbors. From the impact of police abuses of power, the importance of protecting and respecting all ethnic identities, to a growing awareness and acceptance of various expressions of gender: our understanding of our world must expand. The therapists at Family Matters care about how these issues impact you and your loved ones.
The human heart and mind evolved to value our thoughts, feelings and relationships. Neurobiology suggests that our brains work through trauma and stress best through a supportive relationship with another human being. Therapy can provide a stable, supportive, confidential way to work through current stresses and prior traumas. Counseling sessions provide a way to process difficult experiences, and long-term psychotherapy offers a way to change ingrained patterns, beliefs and behaviors. Your therapist might help you work through those challenges these stresses bring up.
Many people are finding good reasons to meet at times in person and at times through video conferencing. Here are some of the benefits of utilizing these "telehealth" methods:
There are also limitations. Meeting online instead of in-person is not for everyone in every circumstance. Some issues are best addressed in the same room as the therapist. Parts of how we communicate can be lost over a voice call or a video transmission. You need to make sure you are in a private setting where you will not be interrupted. We invite you to call or email us to see if a counseling appointment over video or a phone call would be appropriate for you.
