Every person is capable of living a fulfilling life. Therapy can be like a key to opening doors that appear locked, or to creating metaphorical bridges overcoming seemingly insurmountable obstacles. Counseling has the power to transform how we see the world and our place in it. That kind of perspective shift -- using our thoughts and behaviors in light of our feelings -- can help us make lasting changes the help us and benefit our family members.
I specialize in working with individuals, children, teens, and parents. Many of my trainings the past ten years focus on how to reduce harmful effects of anxiety using particular models that help us "adjust" our relationship with our anxiety. I am known in the community as a therapist who uses cognitive behavioral techniques with children, teens, and adults.
Clients also turn to me for help when family dynamics need attention. I am highly skilled in helping with identity issues related to gender and sexuality. Parents consult with me on how to talk with their teens about gender and sexuality. I help people understand more about their own identity and how to share that with others. I coach step-parents and parents with children of all ages, even as young as 4-years-old.
Clients also call me when they need help overcoming grief from the loss of a loved one, relationship, or other important part of life.
I utilize evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) combined with a warm, therapeutic relationship. I focus on a positive, strength based approach that works toward your goals, whether short or long-term. I hope you will reach out today to take your first steps towards achieving those goals.
